The FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 Turkiye has been officially confirmed with the selection of participating teams completed after the culmination of the U16 Continental Cups held throughout the summer.
Qualified Teams for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024:
Africa: Guinea, Egypt
Americas: USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, Argentina
Asia: Australia, New Zealand, China, Philippines
Europe: Turkiye (Hosts), Spain, Italy, France, Lithuania, Germany
Scheduled to take place in Turkiye from June 29 to July 7, 2024, the event will showcase seven countries that did not participate in the previous 2022 edition. Guinea will be making its debut, while China, Germany, Italy, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and hosts Turkiye return to the global stage.
The USA, winners of all six previous U17 World Cups, secured their spot by clinching the U16 Americas Championship 2023 title with a dominant 118-36 victory over Canada. Puerto Rico and Argentina, who reached the Semi Finals, also earned berths at the U17 World Cup.
In a historic achievement, Guinea emerged victorious in the U16 African Championship 2023, defeating Egypt 84-76 in the championship game, earning their first-ever qualification for the U17 World Cup.

Spain, the runners-up in the U17 World Cup 2022, claimed their sixth U16 European Championship title with a 77-68 win over Italy. France, Lithuania, and Germany secured their places in the U17 World Cup alongside hosts Turkiye.
Australia, a two-time U17 World Cup Finalist, secured their spot by winning the U16 Asian Championship 2023, defeating New Zealand 79-76 in the final. The other Semi Finalists China and the Philippines, also confirmed their participation in the upcoming U17 World Cup.
