Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was elected as the National Assembly speaker and Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah was elected as the deputy speaker.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the joint candidate of Muslim League-N and People’s Party, was once again elected Speaker of the National Assembly. The meeting for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly is being chaired by Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said after the polling process was completed that Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was elected Speaker by getting 199 votes while against him Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, candidate of Sunni Unity Council, got 91 votes. Later, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf administered the oath as the 23rd Speaker of the National Assembly by Ayaz Sadiq.
After being elected Speaker Ayaz Sadiq went to the seat of Malik Amir Dogar and shook hands with him, Ayaz Sadiq also shook hands with Hamid Raza and Umar Ayub Khan while Yusuf Raza Geelani congratulated Ayaz Sadiq with an enthusiastic hug.
Ayaz Sadiq, the joint candidate of PML-N and People’s Party for the Speaker, while Amir Dogar was the candidate of the Sunni Ittehad Council, the speaker was elected through a secret ballot.
After the election of the speaker, there was voting in the National Assembly for the election of the deputy speaker. For the deputy speaker, the candidates of PML-N and PPP was Ghulam Mustafa Shah, while Junaid Akbar is the candidate from Sunni Ittehad Council. It should be remembered that 302 members of the 336-member House took oath yesterday in the first session of the 19th National Assembly.
