State Bank of Pakistan (SBP): Bank Timing in Ramadan
The SBP published a notice on Monday outlining the modified timetable that all banks, development financial institutions, and microfinance banks (MFBs) shall adhere to throughout the holy month.
The SBP and its affiliated institutions will keep office hours during Ramadan from Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a scheduled prayer break from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There will be no noon break on Fridays, and business hours will be from 8:30 am to 1 pm.
Furthermore, banks and MFBs have been recommended to keep public banking hours open from Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. without a break and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays without a break.
The notification went on to say that when the holy month is over, these modified timings will automatically return to their pre-Ramazan timetables. The precise commencement of Ramadan is dependent on the moon’s sighting, which is anticipated to occur on March 12 or 13.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had already declared on March 8 that the first of Ramadan will be marked as a bank holiday for the purpose of deducting zakat, and that the central bank will not be open to the public on that day.
