Give any two examples of intellectual property rights

Intellectual property rights: Intellectual property rights (IPRs) are legal rights that protect creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, symbols, images, and names. These rights allow creators to control the use of their intellectual property and receive recognition and financial benefits for their work.

There are two examples of intellectual property rights:

1. Patents

Patents protect inventions and innovations, such as processes, methods, and products. They give the creator exclusive rights to make, use, and sell their invention for a certain period (usually 20 years). Examples of patented inventions include:
  • Software algorithms
  • Pharmaceutical drugs
  • Mechanical devices
  • Electronic circuits

2. Copyrights

Copyrights protect original literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as:
  • Books, articles, and other written content
  • Music compositions and sound recordings
  • Movies, TV shows, and other audiovisual works
  • Paintings, sculptures, and other visual arts
Copyrights give the creator exclusive rights to reproduce, distribute, and display their work, as well as create derivative works.
